The "Silver Gray Wolf" Bike

BUILDING THE SILVER GRAY WOLF 1979 XS ELEVEN STANDARD
By BOB JONES

The following photo show will show several products of Bob Jones Merriam Cycle creations. The silver gray wolf is a newly made 1979 Standard XS Eleven with a wrinkle finish black engine casting, middle gear and final drive gear cases and disc rotor centers. All high lighted by the contrasting polished fins and outer case covers and ribs. All of this is cradled under a silver/charcoal gray trimmed in chrome edging and letter graphics. With chrome fenders and a chrome 4-2 short pipes exhaust system. It is a one of a kind paint and graphic design that just looks expensive. The paint code is from a BMW car late model.

This unit has an actual mileage of 6900 miles on the original odometer and so is by XS Eleven standards a nearly new bike to start with. I have added a number of improved parts and altered others just enough to make it a better than stock bike, but still appear like a factory new unit. It is thrilling to look at and even more fun to ride. I have equipped it with Metzler tires, drilled front brake rotors and steel braided brake lines. The front master cylinder is an after market version with more power and an adjustable finger length lever. An extremely high output Glass Matt Technology battery has bee added. It can run the bike well over 300 miles without any charging system at all and can live with even 13 volts of charging output if necessary indefinitely. This will allow driving lights without dragging down the battery like the one it had originally. I have added a voltmeter to the right side of the tachometer to monitor the charging system, so the new owner will not have to ever get stranded from lack of electrical power. Motorcycle batteries have been a constant source of problems and expense for years, but not on this bike. There are 300 more cranking amps and no vent to leak acid on your chrome. The seat is cut down for more ground reach and fits a larger group of riders. It also can accommodate an Airhawk drivers cushion without elevating you off of the seat. The carburetors not only match the engine décor, they have Dynojet kits too and this raises the bhp considerably.

All in all XS Elevens like this one are becoming very rare. I have access to more of them than probably anyone around and they're hard for me to find to make into one of these trick bikes. You can buy this one for $14,950.00 warranted for one year with unlimited mileage. That's better than a new anything. Best of all, this bike will still be going strong 20 years from now. Nothing else will, especially if you use them. The more you ride an XS Eleven the better it works. I take all four major credit cards; so don't tell me none of you can afford it. I have sold far lesser XS Elevens for $10,000.00 years ago when it didn't take $75.00 to fill up your car. This bike is a steal compared to that guy in Colorado Springs that restores Norton Commandos for $21,500.00. A side-by-side twin anything from England in the fifties is complete junk compared to an XS Eleven, especially one like this. First come first serve. I only have one of these. only have one of these.
